I am tired of typing Basket Weave Baby Blanket, so from now on it will be BBB. The pattern seems to be working up well. Didn’t have time to work on it much today, my writing self had to be tended.
So this post is short but I have included a picture of the progress:
Writing a pattern is easy and hard at the same time. I know the basics, but as with many projects, what looks good on paper doesn’t necessarily translate seamlessly into a finished project. After a dozen rows, I’ve made good progress after lots of changes. The best part is the picture that was in my head is now on a beautiful set of Knit Picks circulars.
After a few reps of the pattern I’ll post a pic and you can let me know what you think. After I complete the pattern I plan to upload it to Ravelry for anyone that is interested in the free download.
Finished the shawl last night (yeah!) just need to weave in tails and block. Then I proceeded to search for a baby blanket pattern for the baby boy expected by my coworker. I wanted a rather tight weave, to keep little fingers safe. Besides, lacy patterns look girlie to me.
After looking online and in books for a couple of hours it occurred to me that I could probably write a pattern to my liking faster than finding one. This will be my first attempt at writing a pattern, but have made so many adaptions and changes to patterns I’ve used I figured I’d give it a try.
Am now on row 8 and pattern is coming out pretty much as I envisioned. It isn’t fancy, but has enough texture to interest me. If all works out well I’ll post it as a free pattern.
Pictures to follow when I get a bit further.
